WHAT TO EXPECT

You all know her by now and we’re excited to bring her back to Bombay again! This time we’re welcoming Deepika Mehta for a two week Ashtanga Transformation!  That’s 30 hours of immersive yoga with a true yogini!

Of course, it’s not just what happens on the mat. What you eat during the rest of the day is key to getting the most out of this experience.  To make sure your practice matches what’s on your plate, we’re also including a full diet plan if you register for the full two weeks!

What a perfect way to stay healthy and balanced during the monsoon!  Are you up for the challenge?!

SCHEDULE

This experience is all about immersing yourself in a daily practice and witnessing the mind-body transformation.  This is an opportunity to dive into Ashtanga for 14 days and build a routine that you can keep with you!

During the weekdays, there will be a guided Ashtanga Practice, plus daily strength drills which Deepika swears by! On the weekends, we will explore yoga through four workshops including arm balances, backbends, hip openers and inversions! Now get ready to get fit, detox and build a better yoga practice!

Here’s the plan:

DAY 1 – PRANA
THU AUG 3, 7am-9:00am


Breathe through your daily Ashtanga practice led by Deepika.  She will also be adding daily strength drills to boost your practice and enhance your transformation.

DAY 2 – PRANA
FRI AUG 4, 7am-9:00am


Breathe through your daily Ashtanga practice led by Deepika.  She will also be adding daily strength drills to boost your practice and enhance your transformation.

DAY 3 – ARM BALANCES 
SAT AUG 5, 10am-12:30pm


This workshop will be a guided practice with a focus on strength and arm balances.  Training yourself to be stronger will allow you to progress into more advanced postures.  We will be working on techniques to build core and shoulder strength for arm balances.

DAY 4 – BACKBENDS 
SUN AUG 6, 10am-12:30pm


Most poses in the Primary series take you through forward bending techniques.  In order to counterbalance and reach your full back bending potential, push yourself deeper with hip flexors and discover the “hidden” backbends in the Primary Series.

DAY 5 – PRANA
MON AUG 7, 7am-9:00am

DAY 10 – HIP OPENING

Hip opening techniques is what will allow you to improve your overall flexibility.  This workshop will be a guided practice and will teach you techniques that you can use to work towards advanced leg-behind-the-head poses when you are ready.

DAY 11 – INVERSIONS 
SUN AUG 13, 10am-12:30pm


Building upon the foundation we have worked on, now we are ready to focus on inversions, such as Bakasana, and more arm balances.  This will set the stage for handstands!

MON AUG 14, 7am-9:00am

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Deepika Mehta is a Certified Level 2 Ashtanga teacher.  That means, she’s been granted permission to teach Ashtanga by the founder of Ashtanga yoga, Sri K Pattabhi Jois.

She encountered the teaching while on the quest to heal herself from a near death rock climbing accident.  When Doctors told her she would never walk again, she took matters into her own hands and found the healing powers of Ashtanga, meditation and Pranayama.  Today, Deepika is one of the most recognizable teachers in India and spends most of her time teaching around the world!
